WILLIAM KENTRIDGE

From October 8 to 18, 2026, a selection of video works by William Kentridge—one of the most internationally acclaimed contemporary artists—will be presented. His work weaves together drawing, animation, theater, music, and historical reflection.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is Germanie et des pays adjacents du sud et de l'est (Pylon lady), a tapestry from the Porter Series, which Kentridge began in 2001. The series combines black silhouettes of figures carrying objects layered over reproductions of 19th-century maps. Suspended between movement and stillness, these figures evoke themes of travel, migration, and displacement.

The exhibition continues with Breathe, Dissolve, Return, a triptych of animated films exploring memory, transformation, breath, and the endless cycle of dissolution and rebirth.

The program also features Zeno Writing (2002), an animated film inspired by Italo Svevo’s novel Zeno's Conscience. Through his signature visual style—utilizing charcoal drawings, collage, and archival materials—Kentridge transforms the protagonist’s inner journey into a universal meditation on memory, identity, and the anxieties of the 20th century, which remain profoundly relevant today.

The exhibition will conclude on October 18 at 6:00 PM with a concert by pianist Vincenzo Pasquariello, a long-time collaborator of William Kentridge, who will perform a repertoire featuring music by Chopin, Debussy, and Miller.
